V.O.V.'s Three Principles

Value Our Voices stands for Valid, Ongoing, and Vulnerable:

Valid

Valid, applicable, and impactful services.

Ongoing

Ongoing, continuous reflective learning.

Vulnerable

Vulnerable, authentic relationship-based, growth focused strategies.

V.O.V. believes it is time to put intentional and embedded practices into action within the Early Childhood Education settings related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This takes the desire to actively participate in Valid, Ongoing and Vulnerable collaborations so we may serve each other, all children, and all families to the best of our abilities with cultural humility.

Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®)

The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) is a statistically reliable, cross-culturally valid measure of Intercultural competence measured along the Intercultural Development Continuum® (IDC®) [adapted, based on IDI research, from the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) theory developed by Dr. Milton Bennett]. The IDI is the only theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. Unlike other tools that measure separate personal characteristics (e.g., open-mindedness, flexibility), the IDI allows you to see an individual’s or group’s progression along a continuum of cross-cultural competence. Because of this, the IDI provides in-depth insights on how individuals and groups make sense of cultural differences and how they respond to cultural differences. The IDI measures both one’s mindset and skillset.

Value Our Voices Consulting, LLC (V.O.V.)  is a Qualified Administrator of the IDI and can provide:

  • Individual assessment in coaching feedback and development of intercultural competence.

  • Group/team analysis in team building efforts.

  • Organizational-wide needs assessment for training design.

  • Program evaluation to assess effectiveness of various teams/departments.

  • Research and resources.

The IDI is a theory-based 50 item questionnaire that assesses the major stages of intercultural competence along the Intercultural Development Continuum. The instrument is easy to complete, and it can generate a graphic profile of an individual's or group's predominant stage of intercultural development and textual interpretation of that stage and associate transition issues.

Value Our Voices Consulting, LLC has obtained a license to use the IDI® from IDI, LLC.
